Camp 5780 בעז"ה

Dear Parents שיחיו',

Many have invested tremendous amounts of time and energy over the past months—to open camp. We tried through numerous avenues, both through connections with the Governor and the possibility of renting alternate grounds, all without success. We truly hoped that we could have found a way.

Since everything in this world is directly orchestrated by Hashgacha Protis, it is clear that ultimately, the Oibershter, through His proxies and agents, has chosen that we do not have camp this summer.

Especially after the initial excitement that CT was going to allow us to open, we feel for all the campers who were so looking forward to the joys and spirit that are hallmarks of the Camp Chomeish experience. We are heart-broken for you and the many families who have come to count on us for providing the chassidishe, warm and fun-filled summer for your daughters. We do not take that opportunity or responsibility lightly.

Year after year, Camp Chomeish extends every possible dollar to parents who are unable to pay, providing more scholarship funding than camps much larger than ours. This means that we are already in a tight financial position. This year, besides for year-round expenses, we have spent a great deal of money preparing for camp’s opening (after the state initially released guidelines for us to do so.) Together, these expenses are greater than the total of all deposits received.

Yet, as we are unable to open, we are ready to refund your deposit and payments despite the hardship we will incur. Please understand that the refund will take some time, as we work out the finances on our end.

In light of the above, we humbly ask that you consider donating all or part of your payments to help cover our losses. Donation receipts will be provided and it would be truly helpful and much appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please consider rolling your payments over for next year.

Last but certainly not least, we want to take this opportunity to thank our Program Director, Camp Mashpia, and devoted head staff for their tireless efforts in planning a most enjoyable summer program. Even with the knowledge that camp may not open, they nevertheless worked hard and thought positively. Their optimism, patience and encouragement, have been invaluable in this challenging time.

Wishing you a happy and healthy summer. We will miss your daughter this summer and look forward to next summer with Moshiach in Yerushalayim.
